Mind: The Perpetual Intercourse breaks away from the minimalism of Bites. Its intense and unsettling songs are built from layers of punishing samples and sounds. This album marks the first appearance of R. Dwayne Goettel, whose keyboard and effects push the band towards their chaotic future masterpieces. The album - opener 'One Time One Place' starts with demonic glee, featuring a bubbling mix of crunchy bass and high - pitched synths, hinting at the disturbing music in later albums. While some tracks are less polished compared to Too Dark Park and Last Rights, and Nivek Ogre's vocals are more screeches and wails here than later melodies, there's still inspired experimentation. 'Stairs and Flowers' is a standout with its distorted sounds clashing with voice samples and Ogre's delivery. The subject matter is extremely dark, as expected from Skinny Puppy. Although some elements like the Exorcist dialogue in 'Burnt With Water' don't hit the mark, the creepy Twilight Zone samples in '200 Years' show the band's artistry. However, 'Deep Down Trauma Hounds' and 'Addiction' seem out of place, and the weak dub remix of 'Stairs and Flowers' is an aberration. Like Rabies, it's not their peak but an important part of the band's overall sound.

Note that the music is intense and dark, so it might not be suitable for those who prefer light - hearted tunes. There's no special maintenance for the album if it's in digital form.
