Description

In the early 1980s, Laurie Anderson, a well - respected conceptual artist and composer, was known for using high - tech and homemade gear in her violin - based works. She was a familiar face in the Lower Manhattan music - visual art - performance scene where Philip Glass and David Byrne also emerged. While working on her legendary seven - hour performance art piece United States, Part I–IV, she created the spare 'O Superman (For Massenet)', an electronic update of Jules Massenet's 'O Souverain', for the small New York City indie label 110 Records. In the UK, DJ John Peel played this limited - edition 33⅓ RPM 7” record on BBC Radio 1. It became an unlikely #2 hit, got lots of press attention, and led to a worldwide deal with Warner Bros. Records.

If you want to enjoy this product, just play the 33⅓ RPM 7” record on a suitable record player. When handling the record, be gentle to avoid scratches. Store it in a cool, dry place to keep it in good condition. And don't forget to turn up the volume to fully experience Laurie Anderson's unique music creation.
