The first vocal album by the much - loved Ethiopian nun, composer, and pianist Emahoy Tsege Mariam Gebru. These are deeply moving home cassette recordings from 1977 - 1985, made during political upheaval. They're unlike anything the artist released before. The sounds of outside birds, the creak of the piano bench, and the thump of her finger on the record button add a real sense of place, making you feel close to her while she records. Emahoy wished to share this music widely before she passed in March 2023. Now, in what would have been her 100th year, we're proud to release it with her family. The LP comes with a 16 - page full - color booklet. It's a gold - cover first edition, available in both black and gold vinyl.
