Soul Jazz Records presents Betty Harris’ ‘The Lost Queen of New Orleans Soul’ in a special one - off heavyweight gatefold green vinyl pressing, with a download code. This collection gathers Betty Harris’ amazing soul and funk singles from 1964 - 1969, under the guidance of Allen Toussaint. Her powerful vocals paired perfectly with New Orleans players, including The Meters. With Toussaint's song - writing, Harris' singing, and The Meters' groove, it's an unbeatable combo. Even though Harris didn't live in New Orleans, these recordings capture the true New Orleans sound. All singles were on the local Sansu label, with limited distribution outside the South, which is why her music didn't achieve the same commercial success as some other New Orleans artists.
