Yard Act was formed in Leeds in September 2019 when Ryan Needham briefly lived in James Smith's spare bedroom. They developed a programming, looping, and layering system. The chemistry between them created a foundation for their complex and ever - expanding narrative world. Smith says, 'Ryan has great vibes, while I tend to overthink. It's the best creative partnership I've ever had. Once you find a good rhythm, it just flows on its own.'
